Biographical / Historical

Mario Gavalas is a graduate of Sheffield University in England. Before migrating to New Zealand, Gavalas worked as a host at tourist chalets in the French Alps. While there, he met his NZ-born wife at a ski resort in Vanjany. From 1999, he worked as a Guide in both North and South Islands of this country. He used this background in tourism and history, to write eighteen walking and historical guides for Reed Publishing. Twelve of his guidebooks can be found in the non-fiction section of the Invercargill Library.
