Overview
This interview was recorded as part of a project to celebrate of 125 years of Women's Suffrage in New Zealand. In this interview Kari begins by talking of her family and life in various towns in America. She talks about the Feminist Movement and describes the difficulties faced by her mother after her divorce. As a child she was an avid reader and describes her music interests when growing up. Kari also talks of challenges she had with education as well as with her home life. She talks about going on to higher education and her relationships. She moved to Scotland and then to Invercargill. Kari went on to have two children and she reflects on work/life balance, childcare and domestic responsibilities/expectations. She contrasts to support for working Mum’s in Europe/UK and different attitudes.
