4. Thomas Pattenson (1747-1812), of Melmerby Hall, Cumbria. - Book label present.
5. Robert Cane Pattenson (ca.1817-1904), Rector of Melmerby, Cumbria, grandson to Thomas Pattenson. - Robert's parents were John Edward Pattenson and Mary Anna Harris, who married in Tipperah, India, in March 1801; Robert was the youngest of five children, born in the East Indies. -The book was given by R.C. Pettenson to his nephew, Thomas McDonnell (Robert's sister, Anna, marreid Thomas McDonnell, st.), during the latter's visit to England from New Zealand in 1876.
