Biographical / Historical
The sign that accompanies these windows states: Made by the Wanganui Glass Company, seven decorative windows were designed to commemorate Southlands participation in the Boer and World Wars. Concern over the deterioration of both the Hall and the metal frames holding the windows in place prompted the RSA to kindly gift six of the seven panels to the care of the new Library building. The seventh panel was in a very brittle condition and there was concern it would shatter if moved. The library is honoured to be able to provide a place where these windows are able to be viewed.
Gfited in August 1988 for inclusion in the new Dee Street Library, these memorial windows originally adorned the corner of the RSA Memorial Hall (Tay Street).
