A very old notebook that opens at a meeting, held 19 March 1881, when a group pf 'gentlemen' met to form a committee to organise the setting up of a community hall and library. Records finish 6 February 1892.

This minute book records the legal process of setting up, fundraising and construction of the Calcium Library.
Key events recroded: 1. First meeting held at "McHardy" 19 March 1881, to nominate Trustees to get Sections 15, Block1, invested in their names, as a public hall. Trustees nominated were: John Walker, Peter Teviotdale, James B. Lindsay, Charles Henderson, Alexander McHardy. 2. At the second meeting in May 1882, Ch. Henderson's name was erased as not being a landowner and five other Trustees were elected: Dugal McPhee, John Ayson, William McKenzie, Thomas Par, James Stevenson. 3. The set-up process is detailed in following meeting. 4. 1883: Constitution of Hall, Objectives, Meeting procedures, Election of Officers and regulation of business, subscriber privileges and responsibilities. No women's names recorded. 5. 15 December 1888: Meeting to 'get the Hall into a limited liability company with a capital of 150 Pounds,in shares of 1 Pound each. (today 1 Pound = $2.00). A Library Committee was elected. 6. 2 March 1889 - the meeting was canvassed for shares, 49 taken up. Subscriptions were set. 7. 6 February 1892 - meeting closed because not a quorum present.
The last page of this notebook is torn out. On both sides of the final page, lists of names(male and female) with numbers, but no information.
