Dear Dorothy, Many thanks for your welcome airgraph which I received two days ago along with some mail from Mum, Maisie and Frances. I have sent some post cards and a souvenir envelope home, and am sending some to you with this letter. You seem to be getting plenty of days off now and no doubt you can do with them, you have been at the nursing for quite a while now. I had a letter from Mrs Shand also, two days ago and am going to write to her after tea. She said she had been to see Frances & Stuart in their new home. How is Dr Crawford doing, give him my regards. I think that Jock will probably be home by the time you receive this as I have not heard from him for two or three weeks. Ces Dixon are doing as I have not heard from them for a few months. I am sending home a small parcel of elastic and a few buttons as well as some tape, so you will be able to get some of it. Later on I will be sending more, that is as soon as I can find some and I think it is better to send a little at a time instead of a lot in one parcel, just in case of it going missing. So far I have not been in a decent town to do any buying and have to take a look round in a village whenever I am near one. There isn’t much in the way of news for you just now so I am afraid this will be a short letter. I am having some great feeds of tomatoes just now they are very plentiful and very cheap, yesterday I got two kilos for 20 lire which is four and a half pounds for 1/-. The grapes will be ready by the end of the month, I can tell you I have my eye on them. Occasionally get an egg or two and add

a few tomatoes to them, by way of a change. How are the dances going I suppose you and Dad still go to a few and are you still going to a few pictures. Well Dot old dear I am absolutely stumped for news so will sign off now and write to you again in a few day’s time. Cheerio and lots of love
