Dear Dorothy I received your Air mail card of 11 Oct this morning and was pleased to hear from you again. I also had an Airgraph from Mum so am going to answer both tonight. What a terrific price tomatoes are at home, and to think that we were able to go into large crops of them and pick as many as we wanted. However they are finished now and so are the grapes. I had a letter from Charlie a few days ago and have answered it. Tell Jock to write me a line or two whenever he has a chance. I have not seen Bob for some weeks now, but will give him your message next time I see him. So you have been getting mixed up with the police you will have to get a light for your scooter or it will be costing you a fine. Well old dear before I forget, I must wish you many happy returns of you birthday next month. Many thanks for the cable you sent me for mine The last two nights I have been out playing the piano accordion at some civilian’s houses (two different places) and had a good time. We did a spot of dancing at one place, and believe me there are some very nice girls about here and are good dances. I have been kept rather busy playing since we have been in this town, and it is just the thing to fill in these long nights. It is dark now at six o’clock so we have fairly long nights to fill in. This afternoon, four of my mates and I borrowed a boat from an Italian boat builder

and had a row, it was very enjoyable. We are not doing anything just now and have a bit of time I will be writing you a letter ad sending some more postcards with it Have you got that canary home yet, I’ll bet young Lenore will be pleased with it. She must be quite a big girl now, I am looking forward to seeing her and hope it will not be long mow before I am able to do so. I wrote to Aunty May a couple of days in reply to a letter I had just received from her. She writes me very long letters, usually about nine or ten pages. Well old dear, I must bring this to a close now so will say cheerio until later on. Have a good time for your birthday and also for Christmas. Cheerio and lots of love.
