Ancient Order of Foresters

Originally established in England under the name Royal Foresters in 1745, before changing to the Ancient Order of Foresters in 1834, they were a Friendly Society that provided financial support to it's members in times of need. Established in New Zealand in the early 1860s, members paid a small amount into a common fund that then could be used to assist each other during times of financial trouble, illness and death. The different area groups were not called Lodges, but instead Courts.

Court Southern Star No.6131 was established at Bluff on the 18th of June 1890 and was formally dissolved on the 9th December 2005.
