Overview Collection contains original Annual Classification Returns for 1887 to 1954, as well as photocopies of Admission, Progress, and Withdrawal Registers for 1886 to 1976. Included is photocopies of Admission, Progress, and Withdrawal Registers for Sandstone West, Glenure, Longridge North and Ardlussa Schools, all of which consolidated with Balfour. Overview This interview covers David’s family history, his involvement in the Army in the pacific and his shift to Lumsden in 1946 where he went into partnership in the grocery store with Ray Pickering. Later this became Brown Brothers and traded for 40 years. There is a description of how this business operated and the addition of the rural mail to it. David describes his interests which include: his rugby career, driver for St John’s Ambulance, RSA, Senior Citizens, and Lions.

Overview Note that, as well as the oral history, there is a recording of Ian's memorial service included on the CD. Due to Ian's sudden death, the interviewer was unable to complete the oral history so the eulogies have been included to give some more information on his life.

Overview This interview looks at the building of the new Mossburn Community Centre, the fund raising efforts of the community e.g. Mossburn 1600 (bike ride) which is described in detail. It goes onto the construction and opening of the new centre which has several clubs within it e.g. Rifle range, Netball Courts, Basketball, and Badminton etc.

Overview This interview covers Olive’s early life in Northern Southland, her attendances at Lumsden School and subsequent School Jubilees. She gives a description of rabbiting and talks of her work history, marriage, children and shop ownership with husband Jim. Has an explanation of RSA WELFARE in relation to life after husband’s death. Talks about life in small communities.
