1.38 Born in Nurse MCINTRYE’s NURSING HOME in BALCLUTHA. Living 10 miles up CLUTHA RIVER. (Think it was called) AWAMANGU.

2.10 Only child. Parents were from WAIKOUAITI. Mother [AGNES PARK] was 41, Father [JOHN ALEXANDER GALBRAITH] was 40. Father served in WW1

2.41 Father was a PLOUGHMAN at the time.

3.30 Moved to Balclutha. Father helped build SWIMMING BATHS at Balclutha. Mother stayed at home.

4.10 She still knows one of her friends from Balclutha .MARGARET HOLMES lives in one of the townhouses at Peacehaven.

5.12 Went to BALCLUTHA PRIMARY SCHOOL.

5.40 Teachers at the school.

6.10 MR HENDERSON was favourite teacher.

6.20 Went to SOUTH OTAGO HIGH.

7.19 Worked at SINCLAIR BROTHER's BUTCHER SHOP, in the office.

7.55 Wanted to be a NURSE. Worked for ST JOHNS

8.30 Cousin killed at MONTE CASSINO in WW2.

9.00 Met husband while nursing at BALCLUTHA HOSPITAL.

11.01 Poached an egg for a patient who was BOB (ROBERT JOHN LAMB).

11.30 He would send letters to her.

12.10 Bob worked on a farm and was not deployed overseas.

13.20 Bob bought a FARM, 700 acres.

0.00 Had to decide to help Bob with the farm or complete nursing. Chose the farm.

1.21 Married at home in Balclutha. 23.2.1946

1.40 Mother suffered from depression. Mother in ASHBURN HALL in Dunedin.

2.30 Used coupons for her blue outfit.

3.18 Honeymoon at KAKA POINT. $1.00 dollar for the week at some ones crib at QUARRY HILLS.

6.30 Kitchen/Scullery description.

7.50 Got an ELECTRIC RANGE.

8.30 Rest of the house.

9.00 Oldest daughter ELIZABETH. 9 years old when they built a new house.

10.42 Oldest daughter was born in a NURSING HOME on HERBERT STREET.

13.30 Plunket helped her baby as she was not producing enough milk.

1.30 Would cook LAMB for the men

3.23 Had to learn to make SCONES.

6.00 Had horses and then had a TRACTOR.

8.00 SHEARING.

10.35 SHEEP and CATTLE on the farm.

11.10 During the depression men lived on the farm. Cut trees.

1.00 Being pregnant and not having transportation.

1.45 Left in dark in THEATRE when pregnant.

2.40 Nurse smacked her on the bottom because she “was making too much noise”.

3.00 Left to feed baby Elizabeth. Had difficulty breastfeeding.

6.35 Still COOKING and CLEANING on farm with baby.

7.05 Twins 1 year after Bruce.

7.44 Twins went to KARITANE.

8.20 Child with REFLUX.

8.53 BRUCE born in ST HELENS nursing home in INVERCARGILL.

10.01 Had a nice nurse, Son vomited blood.

10.48 Didn't know she was going to have twins until the birth.

12.00 Wasn’t allowed to see one child, Jennifer, at KARITANE.

13.30 Had DAVID at DEE STREET HOSPITAL.

14.00 Making up BOTTLE MILK

1.30 LAUNDRY and WASHING

3.40 SUSAN born at Dee Street hospital.

4.50 ROSEMARY born in TOKANUI

5.00 Children going to school.

8.30 Girls went to SOUTHLAND GIRLS HIGH. Boys to WAITAKI BOYS HIGH SCHOOL.

9.50 Bruce left school at 15 and worked on farm.

10.15 Elizabeth went nursing. One twin also was nurse, the other worked at an accountant.

11.14 David joined the Airforce.

12.41 Rosemary worked at LANDS AND SURVEY.

0.23 Has 18 GRANDCHILDREN and 26 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

1.14 Jennifer's daughter and husband adopting two boys from LITHUANIA.

6.02 Went to CURIO BAY for day trips.

13.18 Taught SUNDAY SCHOOL.

14.20 LIBRARY VAN
