Track 1 Born MATAURA. GLENCOE (father Bushman Mother from Canterbury). GLENCOE SCHOOL. HEDGEHOPE SCHOOL

Track 2: Dad – WAITANI SAWMILL. A MĀORI section in the HOKONUI’S. Bullock team. Small mill house. STEWART ISLAND, PAPATAWAI. 2 miles to schoolboy bus. Not enough money for secondary school bus fare. Flooding of the DUNSADDLE (?sp). Big and strong. Piggy back the girls. Telephone. WAIMUMU. LOFTY GILMORE. 90 Children at HEDGEHOPE. 150 GLENCOE. Woodwork at WINTON. Girls cooking lunches, meat, Jumble, Pony, (twin brothers) “Nugget (8 yrs., old, IAN) stock to MATAURA, “Cow Boys and Indians”. 3 brothers to war, 1 a gunner AIR FORCE raids – GERMANY, submarines. 1st job, harmony with (brothers – saw millers) freezing works, Dad, (Mum died) to town.

Track 3: Shearing at 15 (1928 SINGER COUP) with a partner. LAKE HUROKO, “LADY OF THE LAKE” MĀORI CHIEFTESS - remains. (repeats this bit) Buying a farm (Exercise horses on the MAKO HILL) Freezing Works, the chain, 17 years, £1000.00 – for farm, McSKIMMINGS, Clay from river 9380 acres)

Track 4: Railway house, Meeting LILIAS in Gore!! £410.00 for house

Track 5: Potatoes – growing them (for fish/chip shop + hotel = races) – Police search, 12 years old, JERSEY BENNIES, sheep, shearing MERINOs, ROMNEY’S, FLAXY GULLIES, lambing in the snow, CHEVIOTS, truck to MASSEY for a (ram $1000.00, CHEVIOT) and a Ewe, GOVERNMENT farms at TE ANAU bought IAN’S stock. PERINDALE, CHEVIOT STUD – Champion fleece! WOOL AWARD! Barrage from ROMNEY breeders. Draught TE ANAU, Ewes not ‘cycling’. IAN sold ram lambs to them = a good lambing.

Track 6: AUCKLAND ISLAND PIGS, non-saturated fat, making cakes with fat, pigs to ENGLAND – the hounds, loved riding, EASTERN SOUTHLAND HUNT. PRESIDENT, loved it. Riding Jacket, jodhpurs, master wears red Jacket, Bugle blowing + Tally Ho we’re away

Track 7: Drag running – aniseed £30.00 for horse, bucked people off, stock saddle, steeple chase, riders EASTERN & WESTERN SOUTHLAND, beer, HEDGEHOPE STORE, LILIAS ran it, fast cars and good roads took people to town. HEDGEHOPE, WINTON, MATAURA Road Southern lights (horse riding at night) lightening up the TAKITIMUS, crutching at night 11pm. “The Most Brilliant Sight” A big job breaking in ground Champion Ewe, and wool. Shafts and wheels – HARRY DUSTON (2 of them formed the group)

Track 8: ‘Shafts and wheels” Ian started it. ‘Dog cart’ for town. Weddings. INVERCARGILL CENTENARY lead the parade drove the MAYOR, Ladies to ball, kuni,kuni pigs, “Wattles”,- Chinese Pig, Bred them good for fat!
