0.19 Worked in the SNACK BAR at The Grand Hotel
1.30 Workers would come in for meals. Railway workers also.
2.00 PEA PIE AND PUD for 1 Shilling. Also on menu CHOPS for 4 Shillings.
2.50 SHEILA WELLS worked there as a barmaid.
3.00 VERN HARGRAVES also worked there.
3.20 Manager was GEORGE MERTZ.
4.50 WOMEN not allowed.
6.00 WOOL BAR used to be called SPIRIT BAR. Sold mostly spirits.
8.10 No uniform. First SNACK BAR to open.
9.30 SNACK BAR closed about 4pm.
9.40 Food was cooked in THE KITCHEN and sent down. NICK [Nicolaas Kooij] was the chef.
11.45 Snack bar was big. Had table and chairs
13.30 When the bar was closed staff could have half an hour to buy a drink. Staff could have a chat.
14.30 Does remember COPPER BAR and red carpet.
