1.2 SOCIAL LIFE as young man before marrying, DANCES attended, recalls the "goings on” at the dances, CONSTABLE FAIRLEY would o the rounds of the cars, confiscating any LIQUOR.

6.1 Dances never started until the HOTELs closed SIX O'CLOCK CLOSING was more like 9pm at the country pubs.

6.5 TRANSPORT to dances etc. Had a Chevy truck bought from MAURICE HANLEY, describes truck engine repairs. 1952 at this time

8.0 MARRIAGE: at the CATHOLIC CHURCH GORE, THE BLESSED SACREMENT, FATHER MARLOW from RIVERSDALE officiated. Married on 19 DECEMBER 1953. Describes Bride and Grooms attire and Reception. Due to death of Agnes' father fortnight before, wedding dance was cancelled.. Describes wedding breakfast fare and cake.

11.7 Best man was his brother Maurice Hoffman, bridesmaids were Agnes' sisters. Ray Taylor was groomsman

12.40 Went to Mount Cook for HONEYMOON good fishing to be had, also an Atar and a Chamois. Agnes supportive of hunting activities.
