Hazel talks about the formation and early activities of Gore Historical Society, the acquisition of museum artifacts, the formation of Hokonui Pioneer Park, and the major role played by Win Hamilton and Norman Hamilton. She also talks about early life during the Second World War, her school days, the loss of her mother at an early age and its impact on her life, her father’s work in the electricity industry, and her employment as an office girl at solicitors Smith & Dolamore.
