In this interview David talks about his early life at The Plains Station at The Key and boarding at Waihi School and Christ's College. He then went on to work on the station. He describes the change in farm use from growing fescue to focussing on sheep and cattle. The Plains Station went on to be divided in 1969 into three runs for David and his two older brothers to farm. In this interview Sadie describes arriving in NZ, their early days of settling in Dunedin her education and gaining employment at Shacklock. She reflects on World war II, its effects and attitudes. Sadie and her husband settled in Otautau where they raised their family. She describes the daily life of Otautau – shops, garages, banks etc., Sister Edwards at the Maternity home. After leaving school he went to shearing school and took over the running of the family farm with his brother Robert. He tells of the various farming practices during this time.
