Overview Johanna discusses life in Amsterdam, her parents’ history, her childhood, education and the war in Holland and its affects e.g. bombing, lack of food, and the end of the war. She goes on to talk of coming to NZ and getting to Invercargill, employment, her marriage to Hank who was a builder, life and children in Invercargill. She recalls visits home to Holland and the Invercargill Dutch Club as well Mission Without Boarders which she set up in Southland.

In this interview Aroha gives a history of her family, education, employment, her engagement in Maori Culture and her children’s interests. She then tells of her diagnosis with cancer and her journey through this e.g. treatment, how she and her family coped, and getting involved in Headcases.

Overview In this interview Freda looks at family history, early life, education, childhood chores, the fire that destroyed their home, her first job and the work environment at Strang’s. She recalls social life, meeting her husband and wartime. Freda tells of her marriage to Bryan, the building of their home and life at Gore Road where they lived for 30 years. They went to Australia for 2 years before returning home. Freda lived in Glengarry and she mentions the community and businesses in Glengarry....
