Overview

Ann talks family history, employment, interest and involvement in bag pipes and the Pipe Band, and incidents in her life that helped to form her beliefs and her commitment to being an advocate for vulnerable people. She became the first female Qualified Horticulturalist Arborist in NZ. She details her varied employment record and employers, marriage and family. Ann tells of the crippling interest rates in the 1980s and impacts on their farming. She goes on to tell of the hardships faced when her husband became ill for 9 months and how these fostered tenacity and resilience. Lastly, she tells of her research and restoration work of War Memorials and the finding of the McKenzie Brothers Flagpole War Memorial.
