Handwritten on the back of the image is "Invercargill Garrison Band, 18, Vol 1, Invercargill Volunteer Band between 1867-1875, 1874? [circled], Photo taken outside Garrison Hall, Victoria Avenue [crossed out] Leven Street?" The Leven Street and the 1874 pieces of information are added in pencil - likely at a later date to the blue pen information.

Additional information, the correct name, date and location, for this photograph was supplied by Rodney Sutton on the 30th September 2022. The photograph is of the Southland Provincial Band, 1863-1875. It was taken outside the band hall on the corner of Leven and Spey Streets, Invercargill.
