Biographical / Historical

Built c.1862, and designed by Angus Kerr, this building previously held the Immigration Barracks, and was situated on the current location of the Town Hall/Civic Theatre. The fire department moved there in 1891 from their old Don Street premises. The building burned down in 1900 and the department moved to Esk Street.
